My 1st Inspection
Hi Bros,
Yesterday, I went to Pioneer JIC for my inspection since its near to my working place. This is my first inspection since 2 years is only seal inspection as Im driving a red plate. I never bother to check my accessories on my Freed if and the result is.
Bolts & Nuts - Pass
Brake -Pass
Tinted - Pass ( I never do any tinting, its original)
Headlight - Pass (Eventhough I change to Halogen)
Parking Light - (small bulb below the head light - change to blue LED - FAIL
Brake light - (F1 style Blinking LED light white ) FAIL
Daytime Running Lightt in front ( 2 pcs) - FAIL
Asked me to take out and go for the 2nd round inspection, and I asked if I need to pay again the S$72.00 but tell me its fine free of charge.
I went back to office and take out all of my failed- not allowed lights...
Went for the second round - Finally PASS

Re: My 1st Inspection
Hola bro,
Many thanks for the sharing experience, i would recommend others may follow to share their inspection experience with all of us here in this forum.
Mine also opc plate, i had plate inspection 3 weeks ago for my road tax extention. They didn't notice that i had replaced my head lamp and tail lamp with after market unit, until i told them that i changed. They suggested me to file reports and register the said replacement units to lta for further inspection.
I will share to all for any update

Re: My 1st Inspection
Hi guys,
I think this is a very good topic to touch on for the pre-inspected FREED to take note of.
I have looked through Vicom website and found some useful guidelines.
Hope it helps us on preparation.
Stage 1
- Vehicle identity (number plate, engine and chassis numbers)
- Lighting equipment (headlamps, stop lamps, front and rear lamps, direction indicators, etc)
- Bodywork
- Vehicle modification/accessories
- Road wheel and tyres
- General items (seat belts, horn, windscreen, safety devices, etc)
Stage 2
Alignment Test: Checks front wheel alignment
The lateral movement of the front wheels is measured as the vehicle is driven over the side-slip tester.
Brake Test: Determines efficiency of brakes
The brake tester is used to measure brake performance, efficiency and drag force.
Test results are automatically registered. Test instructions and results are displayed on the overhead indicator board
Stage 3
Headlight Test: Determines proper alignment and focus of headlamps
The headlight aimer is used to measure the luminous intensity and the horizontal and vertical aim of each headlamp at high beam.
Exhaust Emission Test: Checks exhaust emission level of petrol driven vehicles
A probe is inserted into the exhaust pipe to collect gas sample for measurement.
Sound Level Test
The engine is revved and noise emission is measured to determine noise level.
Test results are automatically registered. Test instructions and results are displayed on the overhead indicator board.
Stage 4
Under Carriage Check: Checks the condition of car parts and components.
Vehicle is driven over an inspection pit for visual checks on:
- Chassis
- Exhaust system
- Suspension system
- Steering system
- Brake system
- Leakage
Test instructions and results are displayed on the overhead indicator board.

Re: My 1st Inspection
Hi guys,
This is another guideline from LTA;
Pointing out on the common modification among our members.
Do take note! Personally i got stop by TP 3 times and LTA once. Sickening experience!
Vehicle Modifications that are not allowed:
Daytime Running Lamp (DRL)
Vehicles should only be installed with factory-fitted Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs) as the vehicle manufacturer would have designed the lamps to meet internationally recognised vehicle standards.
For aftermarket DRL kits retrofitted onto existing vehicles, there are concerns that such lamps have the propensity to cause unwanted glare and distraction to other motorists on the roads. Therefore, the installation of aftermarket DRL kits is not allowed.
Decorative Lamps
e.g. Wiper washer LEDs, undercarriage neon lights, vehicle interior neon lights, flashing decorative lights, etc.)
Fitting decorative lamps to vehicles are not allowed as they may cause confusion and distraction to other road users
Head lamps
(e.g. aftermarket High Intensity Discharge (HID) lamp kits, high wattage bulbs, etc.)
Vehicles should only be fitted with factory fitted HID lamps as they are designed to meet internationally recognised standards. Aftermarket HID lamp kits retrofitted into existing headlamps may cause unwanted glare when used. Therefore, installation of these kits are not allowed.
Replacement bulbs must be of a design recommended by the vehicle manufacturer. Using a higher wattage bulb may increase the risk of fire because of a greater current being drawn to power these lamps. Therefore, these types of bulbs are not allowed.
Tinting or masking of vehicle lamps
(e.g. head lamps, stop lamps, signal lamps, etc.)
All vehicle lamps must meet internationally recognised standards. Tinting or masking of these lamps is not allowed as it may adversely affect their performance.

as quote
"e.g. Wiper washer LEDs, undercarriage neon lights, vehicle interior neon lights, flashing decorative lights, etc.)"
so, i need to remove the interior blue led light in the car? the one we placed in something like pillar? can i just disconnect from the switch?
do they mark FAIL if they see the led LIGHT, even not connected?
how about my 4th break light inside the car below the 3rd break light?
how about the our modified signal light near the 3rd break light, which is created by JACK of all freed?

Hi bobby,
They might close an eye for the interior lights in the car.
But for the 4th brake lights, i guess is worth to "disable"(remove) it before the inspection.
The modified signal lights, too small to notice. I wonder if they switch on crash lights to inspect.

Re: My 1st Inspection
The Parking light which is too small also they can see, maybe because its Blue LED which is so obvious. IF its white LED maybe they cant see it.
I have already put back all they asked me to take out. Now the only worries is the LTA men.
I think its normal to turn your heads if there's a sexy girl that passed by in front of you......
Its the same thing as for the LTA, when they see ur sexy cars they cannot tahan, they tahan u ... that's why dont put too much lipstick and don't use high heals with matching mini skirt hahahah

Re: My 1st Inspection
I'm trying my luck on the approval of my new head lamp "poison of the year"
The day running led is factory product "after market", no manual installation on it, so i would really expect they will not questioning this lovely sets.
At the moment, i can only hope they accept the "new face lift" head lamp that came from Japan. But, there is no harm to declare/make formal reports to LTA on the testing/registration this new head lamp.
When i have free time, i will arrange it to be inspected and make formal registration on this head lamp. Will inform you the update.
And for the other accessories which is tail lamp, as one of our bro here already did his inspection on the European LED Tail Lamp, he received approval/pass inspection from LTA.
That's a relieve news, at least LTA is fair enough to inspect the accessories based on manual modification or factory product.
Sorry to know that you have experienced being fined from TP and/or LTA.
so let's hope, and finger crosses

Re: My 1st Inspection
Guys, My experience was to replace back the original stuffs before you go for inspection. If not time will be wasted to go back for re-inspection. I paid $10 for the workshop to remove and fixed back my HID before my inspection. Headlight is a must to change if yours is a HID. Internal portion, mine passed.

Hi ksckelvin,
Did they check anything about undercarriage? I have LED strips at my Freed's undercarriage. I think sure failed if they check on that.
And also one question about the inspection date? I know is the third year.
But how months after the 3rd year or is at the very day you renew your road TAX and inssurance time?

Bro, u will receive a mail from LTA a few months before your ride reaches 3 years old.
Then u need to send in for inspection with the letter anytime before your ride reaches 3 years old.
Only after the inspection will they allow u to renew ur road tax/insurance
