Look like that are the DOHC 4A-GE 16Valve engine if I get it right.
You should go for the TRD 4AGE engine with black top cover that are more powerfull same 1.6 twincam but with 20Valve.

so for Honde now, the K20A engine is your choice

Black top is hard to get nowadays actually I transplanted the engine more than 10 years ago when I'm working in M'sia at that time the Initial D weren't even popular yet. Anyway just wanted a reliable engine to power the car since the old Ford engine was beyond repair. At that time there's only several engine available.

Since this is a non racing car I go with non turbo, good FC, low maintenance, reliable 4AGE - 16v. after the transplant I didn't really need to take special care the engine but I have the setup on Hi-cam setting for racing and tune back to normal for my dad for daily drive.

FR Engine choice:
SR20DET - Nissan Silvia
RB20DET - Nissan Skyline R31 or 240SX
4AGE (16v) - Toyota levin, trueno sprinter
4AGE (20v) - Silver top
4AGELU (20v) - Black Top
4AGZE - the infamous Supercharger

ya, so good... in Malaysia you can change whatevery engine you like.
not like here in Singapore... if happen I am at MY, I sure will throw in a K20A engine for my Freed...

Bro, all those engines you have listed are belong to B-series engine. B16/B18 or B20...
You can found those "B" engine with EG/EK/DC. eg. Civic EK4 are using B16A, Integra DC2 using B18 & Civic Type-R using B16B...

For today 2011 onward, we are looking at K-series engine with i-vtec sia... NO more B-series
