Engine Sound Empty Engine Sound

Post by sutoh80 Thu 14 Jun 2012, 10:56 pm

Hi Freeder, this is my second freed. My first freed 2 year back is from PI an I notice the engine noise is low and smooth. On my second freed from Kah motor which is second hand, I notice the engine sound rough during accelerating.

Just wan to check do u find ur engine sound very rough during accelerating? My mileage is only 36k and the previous owner service at Kah motor since day 1. Is it normally or there a different between PI and Kah motor freed insulation?

wah bro st80, you are the man! Engine Sound Pray25

who ever tot that a person can own a FREED twice in his lifetime!!!

your engine sound i let the experts explain ... cos made in Jepun & Indo sure got diff.

but what intrigues me most is the reason buying back a FREED after having owned one?

and KM FREEDs when launched were not cheap ... 102K if i remember correctly!

but of course at that price will be for the top end model with all the works!

i too wonder what was the price of your KM FREED?!!!

My first Freed is a GL8 at $66K 3 years back. Sold it off due to backside itchy after 1 years as I change to Peugeot 307SW. Really regret on owning a Peugeot.Sold it off after 6 mths and change to Toyota Allion.
My current Freed 2.5Years I bought it at $81K. Very expensive Crying or Very sad

Notice the engine is rough as compare to my ex Freed. Base on my memory it is'nt that noisy???

My close guess, is same as per bro Edward,
PI using CVT while KM using normal automatic transmission,
CVT is surely "smoother" than normal automatic.

I'm a slow driver, normally drive between 2000RPM to maximum 2500 RPM.
Very seldom hitting 3000 RPM, as such very seldom hearing my engine roaring too

Altough if i rammed up the engine during the high speed, i would confidently say, it would not be "so rough" to hear it.

The simple test you may have, check at idle condition when engine is running normal (no aircon turn on). If everything ok, the engine sound should be "smooth". If it is not, then you better check it out with your mechanic.

Btw, please do join with us on regular monthly meet up, we may share the experience between Freed lover cheers

apologies for the off topic, back to bro st80 question of engine sound;

maybe you can try getting those soundproof for the engine hood; Wink

can also consider spending on ICE to use music to cover the engine sound!!!

Bro, did you feel any vibration during acceleration? If yes, I would advise you to bring back to workshop to check

Otherwise, adding sound proof on the bonnet will reduce the engine noise. I used to do that on my freed

Thanks Bro, will bring back to KAH motor to check. Will consider SP the bonnet if they can't find a fix.

BTW, how much will it coat to SP the bonnet?

If I can remember correctly, that should be less the $60.
