Reliable workshop? Empty Reliable workshop?

Post by sevenseaters Sun 30 Oct 2011, 9:28 am

Yesterday my battery flat, already replaced it with the new one for $155 including the replacement on the spot, it certainly included the "delivery" service which i have to pay. The brand is amaron, with 1 year guarantee. Perhaps there are other brands, but given situation yesterday, the i personally consider fair enough.

Further more, on the same day, went to my autorized workshop for 20,000 km service, the "major" part is just simply changing the oil, and for the rest :
1. open and check 1 spark plug,
2. tyre and brake visual check,
3. under carriage visual check,
4. Cleaning bonet engine compartment
5. Vacuumed cabin
6. Wash the car
All the above within 45 minutes and perhaps less than that.

I dont know why, ever since the smell2, look2 things happened, somehow i dont feel comfortable with the said workshop, specially with their service. There was no feed back nor information to the client on what they are doing, fyi the above process were merely based on my observation during the process.

Almost with the same topic, bro jack must cancel the appointment with his workshop as the service 30,000km was quoted $400-$500 affraid with reason change this and that etc.
It ended up, he went to Htyre workshop that gave him much cheaper quotation complete with sufficient information and "good" service

How about your experience, mind to share?

Well I was also on Aviva.....but decided to switch cos i have read many stories on them...do google check and u will find many.....initially i was sceptical until a close friend of my got hit from behind.
Upon informing Aviva, they quicky sent someone down to assess the damage and declare insurance void due to sport rims not factory fitted......
They have a clause in their insurance policy stating any modification to the car will void the insurance.......
Aviva has the right to refund u the money and u are stuck with the insurance claim bill. Even thought accident not cause by u.....
This is how they earn your money...charge U cheap cheap......when accident happen, they give u back your premiums to avoid liability......cos must pay for your car repairs ......worse if fault by u.....Other party claim from u but u got no insurance to fall back on when in this situation.......

btw bros any idea how to chk if my rim is 'within manufacturer specifications'?

Quoted from AVIVA ...

"Q: What is considered as modification?
A: Modification refers to changes made to a car which are directly related to how it operates as a car. This includes changes to engine performance, drive train, air intake systems, exhaust systems, transmission systems, or any changes to the handling characteristics of the car including suspension systems, strut towerbars, or bracing. This includes any changes made to the control unit of such parts as well. This list is not exhaustive.

Routine maintenance where like-for-like parts are used, that is in accordance with the manufacturer's standard specifications, will not be considered as modification.

Accessories are parts of your car which are not directly related to how your car operates and will not impact your insurance coverage. This include upholstery, audio equipment, multi media equipment, communication equipment, personal computers, satellite navigation and radar detection systems, provided they are permanently fitted to the car and have no independent power source.

Some of our customers frequently ask about changes made to rims/tyres and body kits. These are acceptable only when they are within the manufacturer's defined and acceptable specifications. However please note that in case of any damage during an accident, we will only replace with a suitable part(s) in accordance with the manufacturer's standard specification.

Q: What if rims/tyres are modified?
A: Modification to rims/tyres is acceptable only when within the manufacturer's defined and acceptable specifications. However please note that in case of any damage during an accident, we will only replace with a suitable part(s) in accordance with the manufacturer's standard specification. "

I've checked & they do not insure rides that are mod other then those terms/exceptions stated above & in the policy.

cheers,

edlim1
