Penang pics are up...

as promised... i must deliver...

lets see LTA & Xenon lights...

HID conversion kit Xenon-10

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) requires all designs of vehicle lights to comply with the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Lighting) Rules. All vehicle lights must comply with internationally recognized standards, such as those adopted in the European Union countries, Japan and the United States. The lights must conform to the stipulated illuminated color and intensity.

For headlights, the LTA requires every unit fitted on the vehicle to be capable of casting a visible light to the front of the vehicle. The intensity and alignment of a headlight must be within the specified limits. Besides HID lamps, halogen bulbs with whiter light are also allowed. These bulbs are designed to filter out the yellowish spectrum, hence emitting a whiter light which increases visibility at night. Bulbs should not exceed the recommended wattage rating by the vehicle manufacturer. After the bulb replacements, the headlights should be properly aligned to prevent its glare from distracting other road users.

Unless it is duly certified by the vehicle manufacturers, LTA usually does not allow the retrofitting of HID lamps on existing vehicles. Usually, due to the different reflectors and lenses used, the whole headlight assembly will have to be replaced during the switch to HID lamps. The wiring of the headlight system will need to be changed as a higher starting current is required for the HID lamps. This may cause extensive damage to the system and pose a fire hazard to both the driver and the public.

For some new vehicles with factory-fitted HID headlight systems, vehicle manufacturers have incorporated an auto altering or levelling feature. This feature will automatically adjust the headlight angle and direction based on road and driving conditions to minimise glare. Some vehicle manufacturers are also attempting to reduce glare by changing the constitution of the glass used in the vehicle's headlights, windshields, and windows.

Do check with the relevant vehicle manufacturers to ensure that the aftermarket lamps are within the regulated specifications as stated by LTA.

The use of HID headlamps/whiter headlamp bulbs is a technological trend in the automotive industry. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has allowed HID headlamps to be fitted on vehicles because such headlamps have been used worldwide and they are purpose-built by vehicle manufacturers to ensure that they are safe. Like other headlamps, HID headlamps must comply with the relevant safety standards and be properly installed and aligned.

HID headlamps are more energy efficient and can improve the visibility of drivers as compared with standard halogen lamps. A motorist using a HID lamp system is able to see up to 100 metres to the front of the vehicle, compared to about 58 metres with standard halogen lighting.

With the increasing trend on the use of HID headlamps, there has been feedback from motorists that such headlamps are brighter and tend to cause glare. In an attempt to reduce the propensity of glare caused by HID headlamps to other road users, some vehicle manufacturers have incorporated an auto-levelling feature, which automatically adjusts the headlamp angle and direction based on road and driving conditions.

With effect from 1 January 2010, LTA will require all newly registered vehicles, except motorcycles, fitted with HID headlamps to be equipped with an auto-levelling feature.

PS: only one thing Xenon lights are useful to me for...
it always helps me remember someone...

Just share my first car insp for renew of road tax with this philip HID conversion kit installed. Result PASS.
I think is quite common to have white light for cars and my spec is 4000k only with a cover infront of the bulb to reduce glare (kit version). This may prevent attention from inspector.

Hope this will help other who may like to try white light specially very useful when travelling at night in Malaysia.

My Airwave was done up by him those few years before he shifted to this new location.

Worth to check it out with him.

Hi Bro, thinking to change HID for Freed. Few questions hope can find answer :
1. What color temperature looks cool ?
2. Our Freed H4(?) HID is dual-Hi/Lo or single beam type ?
3. Fm the LTA article, Freed headlight is adjustable, does it mean all HID can ? Can pass inspection.
4. Xeon HID or LED ? Need to get pole light for Freed ?
5. Is there space for normal ballast or must get slim type ?

Where got good recommendation ?

A: 6000K ~ 7000K looks cool. white colour but LTA will like you so much and they will send you a love latter.
2.  Our Freed H4(?) HID is dual-Hi/Lo or single beam type ?
A: H4 with Hi-Low beam.
3.  Fm the LTA article, Freed headlight is adjustable, does it mean all HID can ?  Can pass inspection.
A: Freed come with this adjustable function, it can found at your right side of the auto-door switch.
4.  Xeon HID or LED ?  Need to get pole light for Freed ?
A: Xenon aka HID. Pole light are next to signal light, using T10 bulb.
5.  Is there space for normal ballast or must get slim type ?
A: Both type of ballast are able to fix in, that's the installer jobs.

Where got good recommendation ?
Hope all this will help. Happy Valentine's Day

If your car need inspection for renew road tx, remember to change back org head light bulb. With ballast, your insp will fail. More detail insp check nowadays. I had it, so change back org and reinsp.
