Rusty rotors
Any bros here have advice to make rotors and drum brakes look clean and nice?
Since I changed to new rims it's kind of bothered me to see the rotors and brake drums looking a bit rusty and dirty behind the shiny new rims. I'm thinking to just take the wheels off and paint the offending areas black. Is this okay to do? Need any special paint?
I found some rotor covers for sale but far too pricey for me!!!

Re: Rusty rotors
wow bro satyr, me also same problem!
i do think painting will be the best solution!
if do paint, i think some repairs shop might do for a fee.
for the rear i might be getting covers!
will post pics once i get about it!
just spent money on some ICE stuff for my ride,
so must wait for next month!
PS: June in 2 days time!

When I changed my rims + tyres recently, i asked the tyre shops to spray the rear ones which is badly rust with matt black paint. Damn it, now I realize front also rust

Re: Rusty rotors
i forgot to mention... when i collected my ride for the first time,
the rust was already there! i took it as a colour contrast...
... to ease the heartache!

Re: Rusty rotors
Finally got around to painting the dirty little suckers last weekend. Not a big job but it took some time all the same. I just bought some high temperature resistant spray paint, took the wheels off and went for it! I thought I'd bought gloss black but when I got home and tried it out I found I had matt black. (still can't read Japanese so well!!!)
Not to worry, it actually matched more closely what was on the drum brakes anyway.
Painted the callipers too, it was just easier and neater!

Re: Rusty rotors
This is the result
Brake cover front wheels in red
I took mc today due to diarrhea, and again, the inspiration came along in the morning after reading this thread.
bro poison apple called me M-C-Boy due to this hahaha
All things went smoothly, started with cleaning the cover with thinner, paste-on the oil paints anti rust (for metal surface) and voila!!!
It costs me SGD16, for bottle of thinner and small size anti rust paint.
Little things can make lots of differences

Re: Rusty rotors
Hey nice work MC Boy!!
I was tempted to paint my callipers red too but the price of red calliper paint was more than double the price of the black high temp paint. I also thought that my callipers were really not that special and maybe didn't need the extra attention red paint would give. In any case, yours looks good and complements your wheels nicely. Very cool.
I'm glad I could be of some inspiration!

Re: Rusty rotors
hehehe as i predicted before, i knew that you would be envy and jealeous
When you're at work, you should work smart.
When you're not feeling well/sick, do the same as well (e.g: have rest for the half day and have DIY for the rest of the day)
I don't know perhaps there is co-relationship between OPC and Normal plate.
As OPC drives lesser than normal plate, perhaps the chemistry is there.
The lesser you drive, the higher chemistry will be (vice versa)
btw, it's a kind of coincidence that when i took MC, the idea DIY came out hahaha
Even my wife said to me, "When you're sick, the only effective medicine is taking care the Freed, once you see your car, the sick will go away somehow" hahahaha
Anyway, any bros who are interest having this anti rust paint?
Please do not hesitate to get it from me, as i still have sufficient paints to do the same for 2 or 3 cars.
@ bro Oyabun/poison apple, how about mass painting? sounds great, don't you think?

Many thanks for the complements bro!! and again, thanks also for the inspiration in the morning
i have been poisoned to change the shoe by our Oyabun (mr. president) however, in the end, he never change his
These rims were exactly same with bro Jacklin and Freed111, only difference in lining colors (mine=red, Jack=blue, Mike=grey)
Btw, the rusty lining part of the brake disc is untouchable as my rims cover the whole area.
Anyway, change the color of the brake cover, it will change the looks of your shoe
small thing change many
